@Sam Bowen-Hughes I think you’ve already thought about this, but a template editor (for non technical users to create their own templates without needing to write JSON) would be very well received.

Hey everyone.
I just pushed the very first iteration of Templates in RVE (WIP-version-7 branch)
Right now, templates are powered by .json files inside the /templates folder. These are loaded in using the use-templates hook. The way I’ve set it up, templates are meant to be relatively simple. At their core, they’re just a collection of overlays. Since overlays are the backbone of RVE, a template is essentially just a grouping of overlays.
Currently, you can add templates to the code by extending the /full-templates list. I have also implemented template export. It’s more of a timeline export. When exporting, you’ll be prompted to add a name and description, but this can be heavily customized to suit your needs.
Important Note:
I haven’t implemented importing templates. The reason is that importing and storing custom templates is something I think should be handled by you guys, depending on how you want to integrate it. My vision is to keep RVE as modular and loosely coupled as possible. In theory, importing would be pretty trivial; it's just a matter of taking a .json file you've exported and making sure it gets added to your template list. Ideally, this should be handled by a storage layer on your end. That said, I’m open to discussing this if you’ve got other ideas; this is just how I’ve imagined it so far.
Any questions, feedback, or concerns. Lemme know. Happy to chat 🙌

meh… kinda, but this could be as simple as just having claude generate a few templates, and some docs on how to generate more. Also, might be better to do after implementing keyframes so that the template can be a bit more “engaging” (ie. moving text, changing item size, etc)

Note for myself: Look into importing and exporting templates
