I like the visual aspect of being able to see these options.

This is cool. I just wonder how the layouts can be edited. If that makes sense.
If I select a layout…. it adds a background layout to the player. Then what? Does each layout element become clickable? Do we drag assets into the sections?

So lets say if you want to do quick editing, or side by side video. You just drag and drop the two videos to timeline select layout and boom your video is ready show two videos side by side. Add option to have background image/video as well to make it look pretty. This will quickly turn video making into a breeze. Also ability to select scale of video 1:1, 16:9 or vertical (mobile) video. Lot of scenarios opens up for example news bulletin like edit videos, short reels style videos, tutorial style videos. Which are in high demand and quite common scenario.
You can have similar things as transition in UI where user can pick and change layout, sometimes along with transition. So going from two screen to single screen and back again etc.
There could later be further enhancements later on where user can create their own layouts and save it as templates.
